My 5 Step Coaching Structure
Many of the people I have worked with in the past have commented that they are more focused and confident in the coaching process when there is a structure in place during the sessions and more broadly across the time period we are working together. This is why when you work with me, I set out a flexible structure that focuses on common problems that can be tackled during each session.
“I don’t know where I am going!”
“I know I want to change but I am not sure what that change looks like”
“I need to have a goal in order get myself motivated”
These are all common issues and phrases that people say to me when they are struggling with their VISION. During this step, we will explore and delve deeply into what you really really want and allow you to have the time and space to explore what vision looks like, feels like and sounds like. Without clarity of VISION you will still struggle with your path towards change.
Once you have a clear view of your VISION it is now the action comes into play. Do you know what actions you are going to take each morning, week or month that will get you closer to your VISION?
If not, then this is where we will explore all the options before you, evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each tiny step and even look at what is blocking your path. This step of our coaching journey will be forward thinking and all about taking action and giving you tangible steps that you can hold yourself accountable for.
What is the biggest obstacle on your path towards your VISION? Almost always it is YOU! Your mental blocks or limiting beliefs are sometimes a large part of why you struggle to make a change.
Many of the common traits that trap us include:
- Imposter Syndrome
- People Pleasing
- Ostrich Syndrome
- Performance Anxiety
During this step we would explore these traits that you may or may not be completely aware of yet. Then with the space to peel back the layers of these traits, it is possible to identify the source, redefine your beliefs and set you free and back on your path.
During the course of change, many people will want to switch their jobs, careers or ability to perform at a higher standard. By identifying areas of development, we look at what is needed to make your change easier. Sometimes, this is about upskilling in technical skills or developing your soft skills in presenting to senior management.
Much of this step will be evaluating your skillset and putting actions into place to address any changes wanted.
What gives you positive energy and really gets you going? What drains you and pours negative energy onto your day or even your dreams?
Everyone has positive and negative energy in their daily lives. This step is very much about identifying what is it that provides you with both types of energy and then looks at increasing the opportunities for positivity whilst also removing negative energy where possible. It is amazing to see the difference this step can make on people’s daily lives and the outcomes they can achieve with a shift towards greater positivity.
